Paid Sick Days, SB 601, Passes out of the Senate, Tuesday, 5/28/07

Summary: In a historic vote, the Senate approve SB 601 by a margin of 23 - 13. This is the first time in history that any house of a state legislature in this country has passed a bill guaranteeing sick time.

The vote was mostly divided along party-lines, with the exception of Democrat Eileen Daily from Westbrook.

Paid Sick Leave, SB 601, Passes out of the Appropriations Committee, Tuesday, 5/21/07

Summary: Despite agressive opposition from the CBIA, the Paid Sick Days bill passed out of the appropriations with a pretty comfortable margin. The bill passed out of committee mostly along party lines. Notably, however, Rep. Deborah Heinreich, one of the Democratic vice-chairs of the committee, voted no, as did Rep. Brian O'Connor.
