Our Issues
Working Famlies is fighting for a more just world, with economic security and opportunity for all.
We're fighting for a world where the economy works for everyone. One where politicians are held accountable to regular people, instead of big-money backers, lobbyists and huge corporations. One where all of us, no matter where we come from, can find a good job, visit a doctor when we need it, afford a decent place to live, send our kids to quallity schools, and have a secure retirement.
We’re fighting to bring back the American Dream, and we want you to join us.
Some of our current top priority issues:
Affordable Healthcare
Everyone deserves quality medical care when they're sick -- and a family doctor to keep you healthy. But 48 million people in the US lack healthcare coverage, and 400,000 here in Connecticut .
Living Wage Jobs
Nobody who works hard, full time, and plays by the rules should be living in poverty.
Connecticut residents need jobs -- but we need good jobs that pay a living wage, not low-paying jobs with no benefits.
Fair Taxes
If you feel like you're paying more than your fair share of taxes, you are probably right.
Working class and middle class people pay a higher percentage of their income to state and local taxes than the wealthy do.
Paid Sick Days
Nobody should have to go to work sick. It's just common sense. Unfortunately, about 40% of working people in the state don't have a single paid sick day all year.
When people have to go to work sick, it's a problem for all of us.
