435 November 15, 2007 Faltoni Valentina studio city, CA I'm Italian (the second best country for health care) and i am studying in Rome law.
I do believe in justice but mostly i do believe in human right. your country is so low in the list for health care, is most likely a third world. i understand why is so easy for people to have easy loan (student loan etc.). good plan, gays. so they spend all their life running to make money to pay they're loan off and hospital and credit card and to start to make real money a lot of money because here everybody want to be billionaire and when their so busy they don't have time to see that their just working to make rich other big belly. you think Mussolini kill a lot of people don't worry all the world see how many people your dictatorian govern and legislators doing just denied PREVENTION and free assistance I'm not surprise if someone don't know what this means. i cry watching the documentary of Michael Moore like i cry watching old documentary in Italy about all people kill in the concentrament camp during fascism. but you now what the fascism was less cruel and make less victim.

I thanks god to be italian and I'm really said for American people.

Like catolic the only think i can do for all you is make a pray because all this people that let all this append they really need god help
434 November 14, 2007 Virginia Shultz-Charette Winsted, CT The problem is not that there are uninsured citizens, but that it is necessary to have insurance at all. Please watch Michael Moore's Sicko - I'm sure most of your constituents have since I purchased the last DVD at Target this past week!
None of this was new to me, since I worked at a company with divisions in Canada, England and France. The brainwashing that big business and politicians have pulled on the American public are finally being exposed. Pretty soon America will have to put up walls, not to keep illegal immigrants out, but to keep Americans in and that is the saddest commentary of all.
433 November 14, 2007 Deb Fox New London, CT I have and wow...I don't know the words to say. It's amazing that our country is so great but yet the most important thing is the worst in almost the world. We need to give health insurance to everyone! These babies shouldnt be dying because they are at the wrong hospital.
432 November 14, 2007 gina rubertone Port St. Lucie, FL If our government refuses to listen to the American People there will be a Civil War!!
431 November 14, 2007 Jeanna Milner Jacksonville, FL I want you to see this and think about the golden rule. Treat people how you want to be treated! The statement made that you can tell the true strength of a country is by the way the weakest are treated.

425 November 14, 2007 Nina Hayes Clinton, CT I think there is a direct connection between the # people legislators that have seen it and those that have and not. When your job is to spread lies, the truth is your greatest enemy. However, the thing I got from "sicko", more than just the fact that our government no longer ask what it can do for us just what it do to us, is that we no longer fight. they have divided us and now we are conquered. Bullshit !!! more people need to stand up and question the government
424 November 14, 2007 Patrick Heins Salina , KS Why did it take this movie to open my eyes to the idiocracy we have for health care
423 November 13, 2007 Jennifer Brooklyn, NY I pay a lot for my insurance, and I just pray that I never get sick because my insurance company will just screw me over. I knew this vaguely before this movie, but now I have compelling evidence that these people are greedy and their actions cause Americans to suffer and die needlessly. This system needs a drastic overhall. Let's put our money where our mouth is. If we honestly care about "family values," we should care for everyone's family, not just our own.

420 November 13, 2007 Rebecca Savino Bristol, CT I work in a Health Care providers office and know first hand the HMO's and Pharmacy ploys. And see the patients who do not have any healthcare coverage at all and the ones who get it for free (medicaid) and abuse it on a daily basis, no showing for appointments and some even having free transportation for these appointments. We need an overhaul of our medical system ASAP in every aspect. I hope there is a politicain out there who is willing to fight for the people who have voted for them and follow through with promises. We have the right to vote but nobody worth voting for who can do this. Can someone please make a difference?
419 November 13, 2007 Anonymous Troy, MO This movie is utterly upsetting to see how our government is treating us!! Are you going to change this?
418 November 13, 2007 Holly Meeks Highland Village, TX I am very angry to find out how the government is screwing the people of the United States. I am looking into moving out of the United States just so I can raise my family in an enviroment that I can feel safe in trusting others.
417 November 12, 2007 jazmen ALBURGER Ft Walton Beach, FL an amazing movie! everyone should see sicko. working in the medical billing field it is so true how sick and uncaring insurance companies are. Its all about money and it makes me sick!! We need universal health care.
416 November 12, 2007 Paddi Tudor Columbus, MT My husband and I just watched Sicko last night. I am saddened that our country has become so heartless. Thank you Michael for doing this for the country. We need to make a change in this country and to do this we need to work together.
415 November 12, 2007 Cristina Bowen Fairfield, CT I saw Sicko and cried for the people that have had to suffer because of the US Government and Health Care Systems' greed. Too many people do not have access to medical care; they constantly have to worry about getting sick or make terrible decisions when they do get sick or injured. I am going to learn more about universal health care and dialogue with others about what we can do to make reform happen.

Recently, when I called to make a dr. appointment (I am relatively new to CT)the first question I was asked was,
"before we get into things, what insurance do you have?" I understand the person's desire not to waste each other's time... After watching SICKO, it struck me that money/insurance was the first question or concern not my health. It is business. That is not only sad, it is unjust.

I have really good health insurance however, there were times when it doesn't meet my needs and I am left with bills or I am limited in services. Information about doctors is almost nill so we make decisions about healthcare with almost no concrete information. And if a dr. isn't very good, it is trial and error to find that out usually. And I have.

As a single person, I do not know how families survive here in Fairfield County. Housing, food, transportation is very expensive. Copays and medical bills just make living here tougher.

In the US, I believe we do care about each other however we struggle to care for others as one family. To see our actions as impacting our brothers and sisters in other countries and vice versa. We do not care for the vulnerable, the young, the elderly, the poor and the sick. War is our answer way too often and it drains resources from what needs our time, attention and money/taxes.

Each person can make change ~ we also need to make sure the system changes.
414 November 12, 2007 Joseph Serrone Huntersville, NC Everyone in the US Government should watch this! I was ashamed and disgusted to be an American after that movie!
413 November 12, 2007 Karla Pollard , NC I saw Sicko last night with my brother. I am shocked at the medical attention people are not receiving because they can't afford it. This needs to change. Please see this documentary.
412 November 12, 2007 George Boettcher Loxahatchee, FL Yes I have and I have known the facts that Michael Moore was stating in the movie. It only reinforced it in my brain that something needs to be done.
411 November 11, 2007 Anonymous burlington, CT EVERYONE needs to see Sicko. We the working American people must take our country back. We must ban together and force change. We need to take a stand against the greedy, lying, and uncaring citizens and representatives of the United States. Michael Moore has started the process, may we all back him in his quest for a fair and just health care system, and education for all. Let us hold our government and super powers accountable for our destiny and for all those who follow.
410 November 11, 2007 Anonymous Austin, TX A profound question, indeed, to ask...WHO ARE WE, AMERICANS? Franklin, Washington, all our fore fathers, are turning in their graves. I can't help but feel ashamed...tired of hearing empty promises...our current governing body SUX.
409 November 11, 2007 Mary A. Falls Church, VA The USA is in severe need of a huge WAKE UP CALL. I work in downtown Washington, D.C. and practically stumble across the homeless who are sleeping in doorways and on benches. There are countless stories of people in this country losing everything due to medical problems they cannot afford to pay for. This is happening in our nation's capitol city and all across America. Everyone should see this movie and then follow up by writing to their Congressman/woman or Senator.
408 November 11, 2007 Sara Frazeysburg , OH Our countries love of money, over see human life, over see human values, and what our country the (United States of America) was founded on freedom. NOTHING is free in United States . . . our freedom is valued upon a price. What prices have you put on your children, your parents, and your grandparents? The government was to be for the people, not for the rich and greedy. We, as Americans have the responsibility to care for our people of this country. All Americans daily pay taxes, for what to line the pockets of the rich and government. The Revolutionary War was fought to free us from the taxes and the oppression that was put upon us by King George. Have we become what we fought some hard to free ourselves from? Now our country has oppressed every American, many of us do to inflation, on food, gas, taxes, and etc. Many can not even make ends meet, many of can not take our children to the doctor, many of us can not afford to take sick days, many us can not afford to get sick because we can not afford to see a doctor. Every time we turn around the government taxes us more and more. What kind of country will you have if every American is ill and oppressed? It is time for someone to step up to the plate and take action. It is time for America to be for the people . . . . SICKO needs to be seen by every American. Our health care system needs to be changed and is our responsibility to care for your people. Not for the greed of doctors, insurance companies, drug companies, and any one else pockets we are lining. I am sure out of your busy day you have one hour to watch SICKO. I am sure it will not oppress you to watch this movie on your thousand dollar T.V. or not to go out tonight and spend thousand of dollars. Turning your head does not stop Americans form death within our health care system. Soon we will become the Country of the Dead if if you continue to turn you head.
407 November 11, 2007 Anonymous South Orange, NJ A disturbing look at the American system of greed. If things don't change, and soon, I see no reason to raise children in this country.
406 November 11, 2007 Chad , CT As a conservative I went into the movie very skeptical, but I left feeling as though this should be America's number one concern.
405 November 11, 2007 Kristi Adams Williamson, WV Yes I have. I think it is a cruely accurate depiction of the ineffeciency of our healthcare system. My husband and I are uninsured, and at the moment only our two year old son has coverage through the CHIPS program, which our President just Vetoed, and I think that it is a tragedy. We live in such a wealthy country, yet our "representatives" are only looking out for the best interset of the corporations, not the average person just trying to be good citizens and live our lives. If I get sick I cannot afford to go to the doctor. The instances portrayed in this movie are very familiar. I hear stories like this weekly in my community and it saddens me that the people wo have been elected to help take care of us, are ignoring the working poor and letting us be trodden on like second rate citizens. The poor have the same rights to be healthy and treated when we are not, as the righ do. Just because I do not make huge contributions to campaigns, does that mean that I am not worth as much to the politicians? This movie is true to life, and not in the least bit exxagerated. My husband is from Northern Ireland, and over there healthcare is free. When we visited last he had to see a doctor to refill a prescription from here. There was no doctor fee and the RX only cost him 4 pounds, where here is is almost forty dollars for the same medicine every month not to mention the doctors visit. We can't really afford that, but we make sacrifices because it is necessary. The people should be the priority in this country, and if people could be seen without prejudice and treated equally, the overall quality of life would improve. I just hope that the politicians realize this soon, because until they recognize the problems that await the average person struggling to get by, they will be unable to truely make a difference in this ever-degenerating country of ours.
Thanks-
404 November 10, 2007 Justin Dzina Buffalo, NY this DVD brings a true distinctive array of comprehensive facts to light concerning "health care" in America.
403 November 10, 2007 jodi kish manahwkin, NJ I believe every person in the US should stand up against this corrupt government and allow the people to all have coverage like other countries do. Wake up everyone we are being used.
402 November 10, 2007 Robert Tulba New Port RIchey, FL I have seen Michael Moore's documentary Sicko. this film has changed my life. It is an ignominious shame that the richest country in the entire world is the only country in the industrialized west that does not have universal healthcare for its citizens. England, Canada, and yes -- the much despised France all have universal healthcare for ALL the citizens of thier countries totally free of charge. The people of America are sick and dying and this great nation is standing by and allowing it to take place. I would like to reiterate Micheal Moore's question: Who are we? I hope and pray that we are better then this. This country is hailed as a Christian nation -- one of the, if not the most religious countries in the world. Would Jesus want everyone to be healthy? Every Congressman and Senator needs to view this movie. America is in an abysmal state when it comes to healthcare. America is fed up. In the words of Tony Benn "If you can find money to kill people, you can find money to help people." I couldn't agree more.
401 November 10, 2007 Leigh Anderson East Hartford, CT Michael Moore did it again,he is and
was outstanding in conciousness raising
every one in america should get behind
this health care issue and see that it
comes to fruition in America, there is no
good reason for us not to take care of
our citizens properly and without causing them guilt, debt and loss, the only thing a sick person in america should be losing is the bad treatment from the inadequite health care system, my sister recently was let go of her job
at a hospital because she was sick, and had no more sick days to use when her doctor said she could only work parttime the hospital said then we dont want you anymore and she got sicker because she was carrying
her husband on her health care policy
and because he was retired, she didnt know how they were going to get medical
coverage, both were too young to get
medicaide, but too sick to work, services
not being there for people who have worked all there lives only to get sick
in there 50;s and have no where to turn.
except to lose their house is a shame.
which means you worked all your life for nothing.

398 November 09, 2007 Anonymous Roanoke, VA You know, Michael Moore has been
accused of 'ambush journalism' many times. People so soon forget one of
our finest journalists, Mike Wallace,
employed the same tactics on 60 Minutes,
and you didn't see politicians coming
out of the woodwork to call him a buffoon and challenge his integrity!

I was fired from my job at Blue Cross
Blue Shield because I told a woman who
had been denied coverage from us that
she should get a second opinion about
the diagnosis that kept her from getting
health care. The woman's condition was
not life threatening, and having firsthand knowledge of her condition
(in my family), I knew this was not a
diagnosis that can be determined from
one visit. Not only was I fired, but
BCBS cut off my pay that very day,
and fought to deny me unemployment, which they succeeded at until the State Employment Commission ruled in my favor some 90 days later. They then further attempted to overturn the State's ruling, hiring a Denver law firm to pursue the matter. The State again ruled in my favor.

All the while policyholder premiums
continued to go up, but a lot was made
internally of the value of BC/BS stock,
our priviledge of aquiring it at a discount rate, and the likely growth the
stock would make when our plan merged
with a plan across the country. This
was reinforced daily near the employee
elevators just off the main lobby where
a LED message crawler continuously showed the current values of BC/BS stock. This just shows you where their heads are at.

We were trained to provide outstanding
customer service, but when we got out of training and found ourselves on the
service floor, we were taken to task because our 'performance' was not meeting quota. Performance meant taking
more calls, without mistakes (usually
meaning accidentally promising more than
the fine print of their policies allowed.)

So some reps did as little as possible
to help the policyholder and stay our of trouble, and their "performance" was through the roof. Meanwhile, ones that actually tried to help policyholders
were punished and denied advancement as
their 'numbers' weren't comparable to
those who did as little as possible to
resolve customer concerns.

Many of the calls you took would break
your heart. Many made you mad as hell
that your company could make it so
difficult for people to get insurance,
to get it at a reasonable rate, to make
it so difficult for the providers to
get paid (just put one CPT code or
place of service code out of place and
see how that claim bounces like a rubber ball!!)

People, it's not just time to turn the insurance and healthcare world on it's
ear, it's time to turn the corruption
of our whole corporate system inside out, and the politicians that let it,
and encourage it to happen for their
own benefit. It's not Republicans,
it's not Democrats, it's the whole
damn thing. Throw the whole lot of
Senators and Congressmen out of the
Capitol and start over. Provide limited campaign funds from our Federal Taxes and make the media responsible for presenting candidates to the public, allowing equal time and debate.
Outlaw the practice of lobbying completely. Make campaign contributions from lobbyists to political candidates a federal felony crime, both to give
and to receive.

It's time for things to change people,
and it's in our hands.
397 November 09, 2007 Erin McCain West Palm Beach, FL Yes. As a 37-year old female with cancer and heart disease in my family and not being currently insured, I was terrified that my OB told me I needed a biopsy. What happens to me if it comes back positive? No insurance company will touch me, and I will die. I used to think America is the greatest country in the world until I realized that our leaders don't care about anybody who's not a CEO or rich. It's absolutely SICKO!!!!!!!!
396 November 09, 2007 Ron Fair Central Point, OR It is wrong that we can spend billions of dollars during war times, but can't take care of our young, sick and elderly.
395 November 07, 2007 Wendy Martin Yorkville, IL I watched it today and I am Angry. Disgusted. I feel helpless. What is wrong with this country? The people NEED to take it back!
394 November 07, 2007 Anonymous Niagara falls, ot I was absolutely apalled by what I had discovered about the American so called "health care system" what a money making scheme that is!! I am so proud to be Canadian, to be living in a loving country where we take care of one another. I can't help now but to see the american goverment as anything but corrupt! It truly dismays me that people have turn a blind on on this issue for such a long time, it's about time someone stood up for the good american people and gave them a voice!!

391 November 07, 2007 Thomas Thompson Graham, WA An outstanding film, as enlightening as it is depressing. American health care is beneath contempt when compared to the rest of the world, and something must be done right away to rectify the situation.
390 November 07, 2007 Dale O'Brien Tallmadge, OH sicko is a very important movie, the governmet has been raping their own citizens ever since bush got into office. They would give us all guns and watch us kill each other if it put an extra penny in their poket. We need a lot more people like Michael Moore that aren't afraid to speak up against something they feel is wrong, or injust. Their is almost no point in writing this to any of you, I know most of you don't feel feelings, but if so many of your people feel this way... Why don't you do something? Me and most of my friends work 2-3 jobs to put food in our mouths while you reap the benifits of our tax dollars. If I don't work hard at my job I no longer will have a job, why should this be any different for you? Your job is to make our life's easier not throw more obsticals in our way. So while i'm struggling to make my rent it would would be comforting to know that my government is actually doing SOMETHING that might actually benifit me or people I know rather than themselves. So I would just like to say thank you for your time which ever dick head reads this, and total respect to michael.

386 November 06, 2007 Johanne Smith Montreal, QC I saw the movie SICKO last night and let me tell you that I am appalled by the health care system in the US. I am a Canadian who lives in Montreal and I would not, under any circumstances, trade our Canadian healthcare system that is currently available TO ALL CANADIANS regardless of race, social standing, job, education etc... What the current US healthcare system is doing is ultimately killing off the poor. From what I gather, the politicians are keeping their heads in the sand. Let me ask you this ? if your child lost two fingers which finger would you choose to save? The finger that will cost you $60,000 or the finger that will cost you $12,000. You could always decide to save both fingers and pay $72,000. I guess that after you pay the bill you don?t see holding your child?s hand the same now do you. As a side note, it would cost a Canadian who is on social assistance $0 to save both fingers ? that is universal health care.
385 November 04, 2007 Maryella DeBoy Jamestown, NY Seeing Sicko was a real heart breaking experience. The idea that our health is all tied up with money hunger insurance and pharmceutical companies touches everyone. Michael Moore brought to light many of this countries down falls and made me think differently about socialized medicine. I too believe that a if a person is ill it is their right to recieve health care. Every year my employer is forced to pay more and more in order to provide us with health insurance. Maybe if we had socialized health care companies wouldn't need to out source so many of our jobs. I wish Michael Moore would do a documentary on child labor. I recently watched a documentary on the news on child labor in India. 80 million children work in India for peanuts 16hrs a day. Young children. It's happening all over the world. Oprah had a show showing these small children working making rugs. Their bodies were deformed from having to hover for so many hours a day. This government needs to regulate who does the work and how the works done. It's totally not American to allow this to happen.
384 November 03, 2007 Alexis Ross Vernon, CT After seeing this film, I literally felt sick to my stomach thinking that this is the way that "the greatest country in the world" treats their citizens. Where is the solidaritiy? Where is the compassion? Everyone needs to see this film. It's time for a change!
383 November 01, 2007 Shaun Gilbert Windsor, CT It's perfectly clear to any rational, informed American that universal healthcare is a vital step forward. It's so painful to see our country falling further and further behind in almost everything that matters due to greedy corrupt corporations controlling our government.
382 October 31, 2007 Anonymous Minneapolis, MN I saw Sicko. I found it very eye opening. May the bad decisions of the Republican politicians end soon to stop our lack of medical coverage due to privatization lobbying. I myself have not been covered for medical care in over 4 years.
381 October 29, 2007 James Anderson Fresno, CA I just finished watching the movie and I found it to be extremely insightful and eye opening. I am only 18 years of age and yet it makes me sick to think that I once thought that America was the best of the best.
It's freedoms like these which are being raped from us that make me crave a revolution.
380 October 28, 2007 Eira Fomicheva Brighton, ot Do rich people deserve the right to life more than the poor?
379 October 28, 2007 Travis Horne Austin, TX There are 36 other countries in the world that have better healthcare for a vast majority of their citizens. I refuse to believe that extending healthcare to everyone will substantially lower the healthcare for the top 1% of Americans, let alone the rest of the insured. Just watch the movie, check out the facts: government-paid healthcare will not make doctors paupers.
378 October 26, 2007 Paul , IN Yes I have seen the movie. Finally someone says something. I have been behind this idea for a long time.
377 October 24, 2007 Grant West hartford, CT all legislators need to see this, don't be scared to let the government know we want change.
376 October 24, 2007 Anonymous , CT I was born and raising in Connecticut but live abroad in the U.K. I not only use the National Health Service as a patient, I also work for it as a health care professional. It is such a great system and serves the nation, richer or poor, old or young, no matter race or creed equally. We can not say that by any means about our system in the USA. I am disgusted to know that such a rich and powerful nation can put money and war before free and accessable health care as a God given right to all it's citizens.
375 October 18, 2007 Anonymous Elk Run Heights, IA This movie raises some serious concerns in the american health care field. It shows that there is obviously a need for reform to help the PEOPLE not the insurance companies and politicians.
374 October 17, 2007 Ivelys Nieves Rosa Meriden, CT Healthcare is a serious issue affecting all in society and needs to be dealt with now.
373 October 15, 2007 Stephanie Irwin Oak Ridge, TN This movie is phenomenal! It tells the story of how dumb ass political figures and health insurance wackos try to keep American's from getting proper care to make their pockets bigger. This is absolutely disgraceful and something MUST be done to get this under control. Profit margins should not be on the basis of people dying and living painful lives as a result to greedy insurance companies. I am almost offended to be an American after this knowledge.
372 October 14, 2007 Anonymous Stamford, CT I have seen Sicko. The insurance companies are a disgrace. It's time this government acted in the best interests of its people, and made sure everyone received the medical care they are entitled to.

Thank God for Michael Moore bringing this disaster to the attention of the American people.
371 October 11, 2007 Gregg Kortesma Modesto, CA I watched the accurate film documentary, "sicko" which portrays America's health care system (or lack thereof) and I truly enjoyed the film in which Mr. Moore (who I really don't care for until this film) exposes the nasty little secrets of the corrupt health insurance companies and our countries complacency in taking care of it's people. Being a staunch "conservative" I just might vote for Hilary in '08 if she actually has a plan for universal health care.
370 October 10, 2007 Chris Nicholson Laramie, WY This is an important movie for you to see. Stop playing politics. When someone dies because their health care provider denies the procedure, they in fact have a hand in killing someone. This country has become more about greed than love.

We preach patriotism, solidarity, compassion and the American dream to our children, but until we decide to extend a hand to everyone than we are a disgusting nation.

Stop taking money from these lobbyists and start taking care of the people.

368 October 09, 2007 David Tedeschi Foristell, MO Its a great film that has profound ideas on what America is facing. It offers solutions to the healthcare system.
367 October 07, 2007 Primoz Skrbec Slovenia, Europe, ot Dear fellow Americans,
I've had a colleague working for Slovenian company in US. When he went for a skiing he has broken a leg and when he was telling us back home that it is not so easy to get a cast in US we couldn't believe him. I will tell you that as a European citizen I can travel freely wherever in European Community without a fear of my medical insurance coverage for "emergency". What we need to do is simply to order a certificate for free in other European languages where it says that I am Slovenian and by article this and this I am entitled to their country medical treatment. Best regards from Slovenia, the country you have beaten for 1 place only?

366 October 04, 2007 Erica Piere Hartford, CT No I havent seen Sicko but I can only imagine it in my head. I am apart of those 400,000 that doesnt have healthcare insurance
365 October 03, 2007 amanda burger prophetstown, IL I have never been more disgusted in my life, then when I watched this film. I AM the uninsured working class of America. I would rather sew up my own stitches ( like in the movie) then let them have $3000 for an emergency visit. The sad part is, my children are on the subsidized insurance, that is at risk of Bush's veto. Are you kidding me. My husband and I both, would go bankrupt just to go to the dentist, yet others are getting their teeth whitened! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! 358 September 27, 2007 aaron boyle burlington, NJ Yes and I am sick to my stomach. I am a small buisness owner and the sole provider of my family. How can I afford insurance for my family? I don't run a major company. I make enough to cover our mediocre lives but adding $1,200 a month makes it not enough.
357 September 27, 2007 Judy Haight Raleigh, NC I am an insurance defense legal secretary for these sicko medical hospitals, and the movie sure opened my mind to how bad it gets when you have to go to Cuba (911 rescue workers) to be taken care of for their medical-related illnesses. How come you didn't go after the medical hospitals, i.e., Walter Reed, Bethesda, etc. Keep up the good work Michael.

352 September 25, 2007 Lynn Loughlin Glastonbury, CT After seeing this eye-opening account of the devasting and horrific state of our health care system (I use this term "system" lightly), I am absolutely astounded that the United States has not only allowed but perpetuated such an unhealthy way of managing our citizens' most precious resource- their health. How can it have gone on so long and come so far as to make the "most powerful nation in the world" rate below dozens of other countries in overall health, longevity, and infant mortality? Why do we refuse to learn from other countries who have succeeded in creating universal healthcare? I expected more from the US and now I think it is the time for all citizens to demand it!
351 September 25, 2007 Mary Akron, OH I just saw the movie Sicko, I always knew that this goverment did very little to help it's fellow Americans but after seeing this is the the first time that I would like to just pack up and leave this place. It is time that we all stand up for ourselves and tell this goverment that we are not going to take anymore. We need to put thier backs against te wall for a change, because god knows we have had ours their for way to long. Insurance companies make money hand over fist at our expense and I say enough is enough! No more deductibles, copays, we won't cover that crap anymore!! So I say to my fellow americans don't be afraid to stand up for yourself make you voice known tell congress no more we deserve BETTER and we are not going to stop until we get. Universal Health Care is the only way to go. Shout it, Yell it get out there and vote sign pettions make you voice heard. Because we as Americans should have to choose between the medical care we need or putting food on the table for our families. Our elderly should not have to work in their golden years to help pay for their medical needs. We need to stop the Maddness!!!!

343 September 12, 2007 Heather O , CT I haven't seen this movie yet. But I already know that this country is all about the mighty dollar. We will do whatever to make a profit even if it's at the expense of others. To me this is not what makes a great nation.
342 September 09, 2007 Dylan John Chesterton, IN Everybody in America only cares for themselves, how much money they can make, and how to get ahead, regardless of how many people they hurt or leave behind. Hospitals are a business, like Coke-a-Cola, Lays, GMC, or any other major company. If throwing a sick and dying person onto the streets just to save a few bucks, the hospital will do it. It's pathetic and simply bullshit.
341 September 09, 2007 Dr. Connie Stomper Santa Monica, CA I cried to see a vision of countries other than the United States who actually care about the welfare of their citizens in a real way. It's was emabarassing to be a citizen of the US with only one candidate for presidenet supporting a single payer system that would actually respond to health care needs in this country and provide care rather than provide profits for the insurance companies and the health care industry.

339 September 06, 2007 Dimitry Romania, ot After seeing this movie I realized that going in the US even for a trip is not a good option. It would be more indicated to visit Cuba then US since if you get something to do with a Hospital you might spend the last of your life working to pay the greedy politicians and people involved in the Insurance business in US. US people should think more when voting ho they vote not go for claims of terrorism and other stupid teems instead of looking on what the real issues really are. Considering that Bush got another mandate means that some of the people deserve it, the bad part is that the other part are condemned too .

All the best and the more important Stay Healthy! Since if no auction is taken your kids and their kids might end up paying for your health insurance costs (this in the event you might get the treatment)

326 August 30, 2007 Anonymous Orlando, FL After seeing this documentary it really opened my eyes to how corupted our goverment is. There are people out there that need health insurance and even if you have it what is it really worth. They try to deny you for what treatments you acutally need. But yet they still get their million dollar paycheck and we have people dying. We are all human and we all have feelings. But our government is gready and it really discusses me. I think that the people of the USA should band together and make them listen to us.
325 August 30, 2007 Gerard Lefevre Griswold, CT I'm only voting for legislators who support a national health care system that covers everyone. Everyone! NO EXCEPTIONS, NO PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS! When it comes to single-payer health care I plan to be a single-issue voter.
324 August 29, 2007 Lois Fiester Berwick, PA As a nurse and as a human being, I am appalled that our country, founded on such lofty ideas as "freedom and liberty for all," is callously indifferent to its citizenry. Our health care system should rank first in the world. We're a nation who put a man on the moon. Why is it morally justifiable to spend astronomical amounts of money on war when we can't even insure our most vulnerable. It's a disgrace. The French, English, Canadians, and Cubans make us look like a bunch of greedy, inhumane thugs. Is this what our forefathers envisioned? Cut rate and cut throat medicine. It's time Americans took to the streets and shouted NO! to drug companies (drug Lords), and HMO's that are as deadly as any virus.
323 August 29, 2007 William Myre Lutz, FL Common Response ?private business can do better than government on health care.? Can you imagine any private business that could charge double the highest competitor and be ranked 37th on quality and stay in business much less have the profits to donate to all the politicians. Ranking 37th should be a huge embarrassment for our country. Politicians who accept money from the insurance or drug companies to keep the for profit health care in business should be arrested for criminal murder since 18,000 people die a year because of this system. I believe this is the most important issue of our times and will vote accordingly. Our Government is for the people not for sale by the politicians. Please keep that in mind and support bill HR 676 and stop the murder by our lack of health care because of profit and payoffs.
322 August 27, 2007 jerry england dallas, TX What do I think? It made me want to move to another country. I love this country, but not who runs it! I'm telling everyone who will listen about this movie. So far, they all have seen it and agreed with my view of it. Great job Mr. Moore.

320 August 25, 2007 Anonymous East Windsor, CT After seeing this documentary, it made me see the United States, the country in which I live, as a weak and totally uncaring country. For the first time in my life, I felt the need to want to leave it. Do we really need greedy and uncaring health insurance companies making a profit off of people who are sick? That to me is immoral and just plain bad American thinking. Insurance companies must be eliminated. Look at the high over-head costs not to mention the billionaire CEO's that run them. People should not profit off of others suffering. Only the doctors should be paid for their services. Everyone should have health services available to them whether working or not, whether they have pre-exsisting conditions or not. The question isn't why should we have a National Health Plan for every legal American, the question is why don't we already have it!!
319 August 25, 2007 Elvira Jukić SARAJEVO, ot I saw "Sicko" and all I can say is that I think America needs more people like Mr. Moore to speak and not just to sit and watch things passing by. I am from a small country in Europe and we also have many problems and to us America seems like having the power of everything and everyone. I am very sorry that some things are getting out of control because of a terrible and a strong money illness you people have. Bosnia went thru a terrible war 12 years ago. You didn't have a war that lasted for years but you have issues that kill more people than any war and I feel sorry for all the good Americans. Fear cripples and is not real, honoring our voice through action is what will bring balance and healing to a nation in crisis. The cultural numbness by war, debt, materialism, and fear is shifting. 299 August 15, 2007 Bill Hleucka Edmonton, AB I live in Canada, where universal health care is available for all people under this nation. Sick or healthy, rich or poor. I believe that it is imparative that the US legislators view this movie and take matters into their own hands. I believe that the United States of America has the power to become the greatest nation of the world. People have to realize that the government that they are under does not care about them, or their health. People in power do not have the right to deny anyone of their RIGHT to have medical treatment and prescription drugs. For the United States to become the nation they seek to be, changes must be made. Power is knowledge, knowledge is power. Not money. Stand up for your rights America, show the world that you CAN voice your opinion about the matters that affect you directly. 272 August 07, 2007 Jennifer Craven Lake Ann, MI Yes I have seen it and written to my representatives but dissapointed that his response as follows:
Thank you for your comments on universal health care. I appreciate the
opportunity to hear your views on the issue.

Universal health care, or federally sponsored health insurance, would
provide health coverage for all U.S. citizens. The federal government
would be required to establish the parameters for which patients obtain
and receive health services, as well as regulate how providers are able
to administer care. Patients would not be able to pick and choose the
services they want at the time they prefer, but instead will have to
comply with pre-determined standards of care.

You are correct in pointing out that the cost of care is rising at an
alarming rate and many individuals do not have health coverage.
However, I do not believe creating a universal health program will solve the
problem. Expanding federal programs increases bureaucracy and costs, as
well as limits individual choice and access to services. Some point
to the success of programs in the United Kingdom and Canada. These
countries have smaller populations, the beneficiaries pay substantially
higher taxes and consumers wait significantly longer to receive access to
care.

I believe cost transparency and consumer choice are the driving forces
to control the cost of care. Besides programs like the State
Children's Health Insurance Program and Medicaid for low-income individuals and
Medicare for seniors, high deductible health insurance programs, health
savings accounts and association health plans and other coverage
programs are options that help people to access care, save money for their
future and drive down the cost of services.

264 August 05, 2007 Jeri McCracken Phoenix, AZ This is an absolutly wonderful movie! In my opinion, it should be graduation requirement for all high school and college students. 262 August 05, 2007 John Kuijper Chicago, IL I've seen it, and the second time left this impression: we need to examine our priorities as a country. As that elderly woman was dumped off -- taxied by a county hospital that put her out, no less -- at a shelter, the key question comes through: Who are we as a nation? What have we become? Why won't our leaders see what basic human needs are? And then the comparison to the English, French, and even Cuban systems of care, wow! Check out a dyed-in-the-wool conservative (I'd say country club republican) defending the Candadian system as "it's just right to do." Really, is our system defensible? It's not. We can do so much better for each other.

I will be voting for the candidate that does support the idea of universal healthcare. I will educate future citizens on how healthcare is run in America and the changes that need to be made. 257 August 04, 2007 Susan Burnell Kent, CT How is it that we continue to arrogantly consider ourselves the Leaders of the Free World and we are the most backward nation in the world when it comes to providing excellent, no-cost health care to our citizens? Be a leader. Make this country proud again. Care for its citizens.
256 August 04, 2007 Anonymous Seattle, WA It was profound and deaply disturbing. Having been raised in Canada and now lived in US for last 20 years..I have to make the choice between DR or food. My daughters cat scan cost me $250 on top of my $200 a month I pay to my company for Aetna coverage. I am afraid to get sick or have something erious happen to me or my kids. I find that my friends who are low income/retired cannot afford their medication or health services and have to get so sick they are in the hospital to get their medicine. It is a travisty and I am ashamed to live in a country that does this to their citizens. All while the HMO execs are building huge mansions and lavishing blood money on themselves. As retirment looms I find myself investigating what country I will move to because I know that I cannot afford to live here as an elderly person.
255 August 04, 2007 Cassandra Brown Omaha, NE After seeing the movie Sicko, I felt disgusted and stupid. Disgusted that we the voters don't realize that we are the ones in power and stupid because we are made to feel so hopeless and tired...that we no longer have the energy or the drive to get what we rightly deserve. We let our "elected" officials make our decisions for us believing that they want what is best for us not realizing that for the most part they want what is best for them. I kept hearing the George W. Bush quote in my head about the "haves and the have mores". I own my own business where I work 8 hours a day then go off to another job for 5 hours every night and get home at 12:30 am. I do not have insurance, I cannot go to the Dentist or the Doctor I can barely afford to live. I think that I deserve more!

236 August 02, 2007 Anonymous , FL LOVEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD IT.
235 August 02, 2007 Tamir Halperin Jacksonville, FL Yes. I felt it was boldly salvific. You don't have a documentary in front of you when you're watching it. You have a mirror that shows you your soul and the condition of its health. It then opens a small satchel of truths that scalpel their way into deep, dark regions where nameless and long forgotten maladies recline about as they dole out the energy of life from the meager remains of their power orgies. I don't know god, personally, but I read in the bible somewhere and it whispers 'you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free'. Freedom feels light as it blankets you in a calm resolve. It doesn't call you to arms. It's cry to break your suppression of it grows gradually until you think you're talking to yourself. And that's when you realize you care more than you've ever been free enough to notice. Suddenly you know without thinking that the more you care, the more you heal yourself.

Thank you, Dr. Moore

233 August 02, 2007 Bruce Deegan North Branford, CT Someone in the movie said it best, when he asked if we can find the money to kill people, why can't we find the money to help people? I had no idea how frustrating and corrupted our government is.
They don't care about us.

Just keep on thinking that.
They really don't.
It seems like all America wants is our money.

I wonder how all of these big wigs go to sleep at night.
i wouldn't be able to.

202 July 29, 2007 John Marks Grafton, WI If you, as a political leader, do not have a policy or plan in action or in works to create FREE universal health care than you are not doing your job. You are elected to do what the people of this country WANT you to do. You represent the people of your state and people of your state, along with the rest of our country, are calling for free universal health care.

Ask youself...What am doing to make this a reality? What steps will I take to do what the people are telling me to do? If you need help and guidance you only need to sit down for 2 hours at any local movie theatre...the answer (and motivation) is that simple. SEE THE MOVIE.

As I am writing this only 17 Connecticut Legislators have seen SiCKO so far out of 170. This is repulsive and disheartening. Do your job...Listen to the people.
201 July 29, 2007 Hena Toronto, ON I have seen Sicko. It was an eye-opening movie about the realities of the American health care system. After watching it I am even more proud to be Canadian.
200 July 29, 2007 Teresa McTeague Newington, CT I did see 'Sicko', which made a huge impact on me. I left the theater with two options; move to France or try to make a difference here where my family lives. I will note what my state and national leaders do to change the mess we're in. When I say 'we', I mean us non-elected officials. You have good health coverage so why should you make any changes, especially because the pharmaceutical and insurance companies donate to your campaigns. I don't have much faith that you will take the steps necessary to fix the problem. Prove me wrong! Do the job we elected you to do; represent us, the American people. Thank you, Terry

195 July 29, 2007 David VanPelt El Paso, TX Yes my wife and I saw Sicko and it is very enlightening regarding the abuses of the US health care system. The same members of Congress (who don't have to worry about their health care)should be ashamed when stories such as those become public knowledge. How do they sleep at night? I guess when you have the medical and pharma lobbyists making sure their campaign have adequate funds then that doesn't phase them much. It seems that the entire country is driven solely on profit generation, and we have lost sight of some basic human pronciples of caring for our fellow human being. Nixion and Halderman started it all, but "W" and Darth are very staunch supporters of keeping the momentum.

If other countries can have a Universal Health Care Program functioning and taking care of its peopl, then why can't one of the richest and most prosperous nations of the world do the same thing, its a very simple answer.........GREED! It's high time that we the American people don't ask, but demand accountability of our electorate. The government of France listens to its people, otherwise they begin marching and protesting, and that country takes care of it own.
194 July 29, 2007 Caryn Converse West Haven, CT Sicko should be required viewing for all legislators who have an influence over the state of health care in our state and in our country.
193 July 29, 2007 Anonymous , NY I am utterly and completely repulsed at the state of our country's healthcare... or lack thereof. I myself am in a dilemma having seen podiatrists for over a year who have still yet to form a correct diagnosis. I have been unemployed simply because if I do find a job I am physically capable of, I won't be able to afford treatment as medicaid will be cut off. I have to live with my parents, and I am 27 years old! Though after seeing this movie, I am thankful that I am getting any treatment at all, even if it takes forever. If I lived in CUBA though, I'd probably be fixed by now! SOMETHING IS WRONG, AMERICA, BUT OUR GOVERNMENT CAN SEE NOTHING BUT DOLLAR SIGNS!!!

Thank-you, Michael Moore, for bringing the TRUE state of our deplorable "system" of health care to surface. I only hope that our WONDERFUL country can figure out how to take care of its own citizens as well as some of the other supposed "less privileged" countries soon...

I have plans to move out of the US to have a chance to live a full healthy life like the other people in the other countries. This country has so much but treats thier people like crap when it comes to health care for all of its people. Everyone needs to see the movie to get the truth about our governement and the terrible health insurance companies this country has.
190 July 28, 2007 Kathy Jennings Lafayette, IN It is time for the American Government to do the right thing and listen to the needs of the American people, not the big corporations who are bringing this country down! Insurance companies have been in power long enough! It is now time for the American people to regain their power and we demand National Free Healthcare!!!! My 23 year old son was diagnosed with lung problems as an infant. His medicine cost $3500.00 a month or $42,000.00 a year. There is no true reason to justify this outrageous price! 188 July 28, 2007 Margaret O'Leary Monroe, CT I went to see Sicko knowing it would be a hard movie to see... non-the-less I was physically and emotionally sickened by what I learned. How could I have been so blind for so long? Being pro-active is the only way to work towards reform. I looked at what I could do immediately. I have 26.59% of my stock investments in Health Care. I do not invest in tobacco companies and will now no longer be investing in Health Care. I am contacting everyone on my e-mail list to ask them to see the movie and write me with their thoughts. I will be meeting with a large group of friends tonight and plan to discuss Sicko with them. I am going to contact our Presidental candidates and ask them to support HR 676 and to take the Senator Brown pledge letting them know that only then will I be able to consider them as a viable candidate for my vote.

I thank GOD for the job he has. My greatest fear is if this disease takes his life, My children and I will be one of those people that

A CHANGE IN THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM MUST BE A PRIORITY.
OUR LEGISLATORS DO HAVE WONDERFUL HEALTHCARE and that's exactly why it not
it's know skin off your ass....
178 July 27, 2007 Matthew Roy, WA After viewing the movie "Sicko," I left the theater with a sincere desire to reside in a different country. It has plagued my mind every day since that just about every single American is just one disease or accident away from become so financially burdoned that they may be forced into bandruptcy. All of that just so the "for profit" insurance companies can exist. We should elliminate the "for profit" medical institutions and establish "care based" medical care in our country. I will not vote for any person who won't support universal health care for the rest of my life and I intend to fully support, in any way I can, any candidate who does support universal health care.

Thank you for your time,

177 July 27, 2007 Billie Turner Toronto, ON I've not seen Sicko yet, but I have all of Mr. Moore's other movies.

I have lived in Canada my entire life and I can only recommend, to anyone, a health system like ours.

It's fair, it's equitable and it's essential.

Don't forget that it was Tommy Douglas (Kiefer Sutherland's Grandfather, if you need a 'cool' factor) - just one man and the father of "Medicare" in Canada - who has been properly named, "...the most influential politician never to be elected Prime Minister" (equivalent to "President", but you knew that).

Although I can't find the exact year in print, I'm certain that this was accomplished in 1963; fairly recently, by our mutual history, yet the U.S. did not follow. Curious, given the rights movement (and granted) then.

To quote further, "He pursued his radical ideas relentlessly until they became so mainstream rival politicians claimed them as their own".

For some info, check
http://www.healthcoalition.ca/tommy.html.

For a real lowdown, try
http://www.cupe1975.ca/bursary/burs5.html

For the sloths (or a quick read):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Douglas

If you can't even be bothered to merely click on those, let this/these be the final word/words:

"By the end of World War II (read: Iraq), Douglas (read: your politician) found a new way to support his socialist solution to Canada?s economic problems.

Canada had successfully financed a war against a foreign aggression but could not do the same against poverty.

'Surely', said Douglas in a radio broadcast, 'if we can produce in such abundance in order to destroy our enemies, we can produce in equal abundance in order to provide food, clothing and shelter for our children'".

Regards.

176 July 27, 2007 Barbara Dietrich Saint Peters, MO Yes, I have seen "SICKO", Brilliant and should open many eyes to what is more important to OUR Government. Which is BIG MONEY, not the welfare of the citizens of the United States? I am a Cardiac Critical Care Nurse Specialist, other areas of Experience includes Emergency Room, Oncology both in Hospital, Home Hospice Care of the Dying, Neurology Critical Care and volunteered with Dual Diagnosis (Biochemical Brain Disorder)Mental Illness and drug/alcohol Abuse. Disabled with masses that first appeared in my cervical spine, but before this was found, I continued to work for almost a year in the E.R. with a "Pinched Nerve" and going to Physical Therapy 3 Times a week. Upon the first session, my symptoms began to increase in intensity and throughout this almost yearlong horror. WE HAVE A BROKEN HEALTHCARE SYSTEM. 173 July 27, 2007 Anonymous Columbia, CT I am a person with a disability (epilepsy). My Anthem Blue Cross health care plan is terrible. My prescription would cost $1000 each month from the local pharmacy. This is why I purchase my medication from Canada. Even so, the cost is still high - approximately $250 a month. At that price, I quickly eat up much of my co-pay benefits. There are weeks when I can't afford to purchase my prescription. When this happens, I do not take any medicine.
172 July 27, 2007 Alan Snedeker Farmington, CT See Sicko. See how American Business and politicians have lied about universal healthcare. See why we're not leading in any health care category but COST.

168 July 27, 2007 Jennifer Mc Clinton Linden, NJ It makes me sick to my stomach when Hilary R. Clinton talks about how she wants to help the American people. She doesn't care about the people and our concerns. She fills her and her friends' pockets with our tax paid dollars when the money is suppose to go towards health care. I don't think privatizing health care will benefit us, only the government. It's time to stop thinking about yourselves and start thinking about us--the American people, your tax payers. Universal health care is a better way to go because it can serve the American citizens and residents needs. It's time to be brave and not think about profit but the people - American people.

164 July 27, 2007 Anonymous Sparks, NV Sicko is a fantastic movie that shows the degradation of this country. It is sad to say but this country does not care about their people. Our government only cares about the 1 percent or their base like Bush calls them.
163 July 27, 2007 Kristin Carmen Egg Harbor Township, NJ I was quite impressed with the movie. I have been personally affected adversely by our healthcare system and could both empathize and sympathize with those fellow human beings that were depicted in the movie "Sicko". I cried not only for myself but for so so many others that have to endure the same torture that I have been privy to. It is disgusting and I have been very ashamed to be considered an "American" for many years. We, as a country, have lost our democracy and our compassion. We not only leave our citizens in a lurch but also those brave men and women who fought for our country, the veterans. I cannot tell you how it pains me to see veterans not only pay for their lives during their duty but continue to live in personal hell for the rest of their lives without assistance or having to continually fight for assistance. Have we no dignity or respect? Money is great and capitalism is alive and well, it is a ashame that others are living in emotional and physical pain. It is absurd.

I have lived in the UK and find it sad that we in the US do not share the same concept that healthcare is a basic human right that never should have a pricetag attached to it.
161 July 27, 2007 Robyn Tucson, AZ Healthcare is a human right. We need to demand our goverment take action immediately to make sure every American has access to free, quality healthcare.
160 July 27, 2007 Auta Goudreau Miramar, FL I really think that it's a shame what the insurance companies are doing. Taking matter into their hands as who gets treatments and who doesn't, and denying patients adequate care.
159 July 27, 2007 Mark Niebauer Plymouth, CA Yes, Appalled and saddend that our system is so bad. I have had many of my oned nightmares with health insurance companies. They all should be abolished ASAP!
158 July 27, 2007 April Fort Lauderdale, FL Yes I've seen the movie "Sicko", and I'm sick to my stomach about how my country the United States of America can allow the riches country in the world, not have a Universal Health Care System? Why did american politicans allow this messto happen and Why did american politicans allow past Presidents, such as Nixon to pass that bill to mess up the american health care system, God help us all.
157 July 27, 2007 William Valenti Meriden, CT The fact that the United States is the only top industrialized nation without a national health care plan is absolutely shameful. This film brought the abomination of private medical insurance into light. In other countries, people freely list their pre-existing conditions so that their doctors will better be able to treat them. Here in the USA, people fearfully withhold that information because then their treatment might not be covered. People accrue massive debts from medical bills that do not need to exist. That problem does not exist in the UK, France, Canada, or even Cuba. I urge anyone who loves the American people and wants the future generations of those people to prosper to see this film and then actually do something about it.
156 July 27, 2007 Guido Schenk Bensheim, ot We even have a better health care system here in Germany :P
155 July 27, 2007 Anonymous nandax, ot no, I don't, but I would like!
154 July 27, 2007 marshall moon hayward, CA It really scares me that if i don't become a millionaire by the time i'm 30 that i will not be able to help my parents and my other family members because of the cost of healthcare. Everyone deserves the right to proper healthcare, everyone deserves a right to live!!!!
153 July 27, 2007 Nick Brewer Conway, AR Seen it. Shocked, stunned. Lets turn this country around in the right direction. The government providing free health care direction. Thank you.
152 July 27, 2007 Cristina Martinez Chico, CA WONDERFUL!!!! A brilliant insight on the realities of our unjust country.
151 July 27, 2007 Carmen Breen Crockett, CA WOW!! Go see the movie. This movie effects all of us. That means you also. Take your head out of the sand and open up your eyes!! Wake up!!
150 July 27, 2007 Brad Carr Studio City, CT PLEASE SEE THIS MOVIE. I'M MOVING TO CANADA NEXT YEAR IF NOTHING GETS CHANGED IN OUR HEALTH CARE SYSTEM.
149 July 27, 2007 Anonymous Winchester, NH Outstanding film. A must see for anyone who "thinks". I am disabled and paying 500 a month... cash for insulin that costs Parma a few bucks to produce? Great Job Mike, I wish those who watch, also GET a copy of Fahrenheit911 as well!~
148 July 27, 2007 Marilyn Clark Haiku, HI
147 July 27, 2007 Andrea Havlat Irving, TX The movie accurately shows how many of us are desperate for decent healthcare! I wish Michael would have shown how corrupt the pharmaceutical companies, (especially TAP, found guilty in a RICO suit in 2000) and some doctors are too in America! I guess I'm going to have to go to Canada or France
to get the surgery I cannot afford here! Thank you for opening some eyes, Michael!
146 July 27, 2007 Anonymous St. Petersburg, FL I have seen the movie and learned that France treats all their citizens better than United States concerning health care.
145 July 26, 2007 Marianne G. Freidberg New Fairfield, CT My friends and I have seen the documentary - and so should every legislator on the taxpayers' payroll! If people are well and happy under a "socialist" health care system why not have it, too, and be well and happy? Occasional problems with such a system are being used as scare tactics.
144 July 26, 2007 Ian Wingate Lansing, MI I saw it three times, taking three different groups of friends to see it. IIt is just common sense, whether you agree with state-run healthcare or not. We need to provide healthcare for all, because it is a basic human right. This is no different from the struggle for universal suffrage, universal public education, universal public utilities and safety, clean water and air, and every social institution that strengthened America as one of the greatest countries in the world. If we do not want another dust-bowl economic depression or to make the same economic mistakes the Soviets did, then we need these institutions. This is not authoritarianism, communism, or dictatorial socialism, this is the democratizing of the private, aristocratic (only the best) archaic institution of the industrial era. Conservatives will never accept free socialized medicine, because they have traditionally fought against free and equal treatment under the law; today it is there biggest threat. You give me evidence of one conservative Democrat or Republican that ever fought for a social institution, which today is an inalienable right we possess and have access to. Republicans today only wish to rollback social security, education, public safety, clean air and water initiatives, because they deny the truth that our society has always economically prospered for all when we accepted the socialization of a private, aristocratic institution.
143 July 26, 2007 Frank Crall Beaumont, TX something must be done to do away with privatized insurance.
142 July 26, 2007 marianne cusumano west islip, NY very serious topic for all americans. shame on our goverment.this is an outrage. we all should have universal health care.it makes me very upset set that our goverment doesn;t take the important topic like health care and help the united states citizens.. one again shame on you....
141 July 26, 2007 Camille Solbrig Guilford, CT If you are a representative of the people and have not seen this movie yet you are not doing your job. Michael Moore lays it all on the line and makes it embarrassing and sad to be an American. This movie is a MUST SEE. It is scheduled to come to Madison soon. GO SEE IT.
140 July 26, 2007 ROBERT MONTANER Miami, FL It's time to change a system that continues to fail the needs of Americans at large. People are tired of abuse and neglect by a congress where all the members have insurance. We should not have to beg for a basic necessity of every human being. "let them eat cake" attitude in Washington MUST come to an end.
139 July 26, 2007 angela rich Port Washington, NY Sicko is a wake up call to all Americans. Now its our time to let Washington know we are sick and tired and not going to take it anymore!
138 July 26, 2007 Kellie Marzolf , MI If we can spend trillions on military and a useless war...we can spend that money on helping our own people not some other countries! Take care of Americans first!
137 July 26, 2007 Linda LaVine Fairfield, CT
136 July 26, 2007 Kevin Conway Moodus, CT A must see.
135 July 26, 2007 Matt BOYCE Avon, IN VERY GOOD.
134 July 26, 2007 Anonymous MCKEES ROX, PA
133 July 26, 2007 christina m garabedian norwich, CT When people like myself, with a college degree and an enviable position in a hospital, will not follow up with health care because copays are simply too costly, we have a system that is broken. Your health is as important to me as my health because it is always a question of the health of our community, state, etc. When given an opportunity, vote for real universal healthcare for all our citizens; it's good for you!
132 July 26, 2007 Doyon Pier-André Québec, QC I've seen Sicko and now, even as a Canadian, I think that the situation in the U.S cannot be tolerated anymore. Be sure that any legislator who would engage in taking mesure to make something of health care in the U.S should have all my support and respect.
131 July 26, 2007 Anonymous Altamonte Springs, FL
130 July 26, 2007 Anna White Canaan, CT I went on line immediately to see how difficult it would be to move to London or France or Canada. Seriously! I work full time for twelve dollars an hour and pay $125.00 a week for lousy health care that doesnt even cover dental or eyecare. At 32 years olf I have already had four teeth pulled because I could not afford root canals. Why cant we recieve the same healthcare our taxes purchase for government officials! What makes someone working for the government more important than the person paying the bill?!
129 July 26, 2007 louise simpson woodinville, WA I thought Sicko was showing how we have neglected our citizens of this country. The richest country in the world should be able to help everyone with universal health insurance.
128 July 26, 2007 ellyzabeth adler chicago, IL it's the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth
127 July 26, 2007 Esther McKone Avon, CT I haven't seen it yet, but hope to see it soon at the Unitarian Society of Hartford. Maybe I have to wait until it comes out in DVD, but I DO intend to see it.
126 July 26, 2007 Brian Steffen Oswego, NY This film will be mentioned in history books.
125 July 26, 2007 Patricia Roberts Portage, MI I say "Sicko" on a weekday evening and the theater was packed! There was applause at the end for Michael Moore. I recommend this excellent documentary to all!
124 July 26, 2007 Anonymous TAMPA, FL It's about time this has been addressed. I can't afford my surgical procedures anymore. My bill is at $18,000.00
123 July 26, 2007 Chris Kiley Danbury, CT We need to get our country up to speed! We used to be the "greatest country in the world" and now we are so far behind on so many issues. lets catch up!
122 July 26, 2007 Anonymous Clifton, NJ Great wonderful movie put me to tears. How great nation turn blind eye and cold heartedly ignore its sick population and abandon the weak. How democracy been hijacked by corporate greed and corrupt politicians hungry for money from any source to run and stay in office forever at the cost of the needy and the poor. Sad
121 July 26, 2007 Joseph , CA I had a tumor in my leg for four years, an osteoid osteoma, it felt like someone was burning a hole in my like with a blowtorch, I was in enormous pain. it took four years to find out the problem, my insurance didn't pay for it, a friend of mines dad who is a dr found the probl me and then I had the surgery. for four years i was going to emergency almost every night in pain, and nothing was every done except, "if you come back here again, we won't be able to help you" they thought I was just interested in pain meds, well; the pain I was in was unbearable. Medical denied the testing I needed for four years. Thats the insurance I have because I'm disabled. and I can't afford better insurance, but SICKO proves even better insurance isn't good enough. Please do something to help make a better insurance system for all, including the disabled.
120 July 26, 2007 kimberly lowe las vegas, NV I have seen Sicko and I was appalled about how healthcare has become too industrialized and how doctors who want to do good can't becasue the Insurance companies have the upper hand over the doctors. Healthcare is supposed to help those who are ill or need some medical support from their doctors. The insurance companies have made doctors slaves to them and so the doctors cannot have a say in what kind of care their patients need. I though doctors put patients above profits. It is a shame on how AMerican healthcare has corrupted doctors and sent sick people to the grave. On top of that, I sew alto of socio-economic racism within the healthcares system. Healthcare needs are universal and should our helathcars system be too? Thank you.
119 July 26, 2007 Anonymous Santa Fe, NM It is a great movie, that show how far the United States is behind in health care benfits.
118 July 26, 2007 Michelle Brundige Brooklyn , NY i've seen "sicko," and i agree it should be seen by everyone, especially those who are supposed to be working for us, the people of this country! if our legislat
